Another trailer for Pankaj Tripathi-starrer ‘I Am Atal’ has been released

showcasing crucial clips from Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s life, ranging from the emergency to the destruction of the Babri Masjid and the Pokhran nuclear tests.

The upcoming film “I Am Atal” presents the most significant events in the life of the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in its latest trailer featuring Pankaj Tripathi.

It addresses Mahatma Gandhi’s death, Atal Bihari’s early political struggles, facing Indira Gandhi during the Emergency, the demolition of the Babri Masjid, Pokhran nuclear tests, and the Kargil war.

In the next moment, Vajpayee is seen confronting criticism and violence as someone discusses Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, who was associated with the RSS, where Vajpayee also spent some time as a member. He mentions how some have labeled the RSS as communal, posing a potential threat as a Hindu party for the country.

The trailer description reads: ‘More than a poet. More than a politician. More than a Prime Minister.’

The trailer begins with Pankaj Tripathi as Atal Bihari Vajpayee watching a film and telling his friend that the public believes in what they see. Shortly after, Vajpayee is seen grappling with criticism and violence as a person talks about Nathuram Godse, who spent some time as an RSS member, where Vajpayee was also a member. Later, glimpses of the late President Abdul Kalam congratulating Vajpayee for the successful Pokhran nuclear tests are featured. It also reminds viewers how Vajpayee initiated bus services between India and Pakistan, followed by his voluntary visit to Ayodhya after the Babri Masjid demolition. “Atal Bihari Vajpayee is quite famous among the people. We have told you about that little boy from Bateshwar who became Atal Bihari Vajpayee. As mentioned in the poem, ‘A person needs to fight challenges, one dream breaks, another builds.’ This is Atal Ji’s poem, which has been unexpectedly included in a scene of the film,” he clarified.

Director Ravi Jadhav said, “It was known even before writing the film that Pankaj Tripathi would play this role.”

Producer Vinod Bhanushali said, “In December last year, Atal Ji celebrated his 95th birthday, and we are releasing the film in his centenary year. We consider ourselves fortunate to release it when he lived for eighty years. I informed Ravi Ji that we need it in two hours and a few minutes.”

He added, “Before this film, we shot a film in Uttar Pradesh. The UP administration provides extensive support for films. Whether we are obtaining permits or discussing on location, you will find a lot of help.”

The direction of “I Am Atal” is done by director Ravi Jadhav. Ravi Jadhav and Rishi Virmani wrote the script for the movie. This film, supported by Bhansali Studios Limited and Legend Studios, is completely ready for release in cinemas on January 19, 2024.
